Burbage Valley
The Peak District

 


A pleasant walk around Burbage valley with an ancient hill fort (Carl Walk) and Higger Tor. On the other side of the valley are Burbage Rocks, there are extensive views around the area. Burbage brook meanders down the valley on it's way to the Longshaw Estate and Padley Gorge.

  Carl Walk in the distance is thought to have been an Iron Age Fort, Higger Tor behind in the shadows.

Higger Tor, the leaning block of gritstone on the right is 40ft high, the rocks at the top overhang by around 15ft. Only the most experienced climbers attempt to climb it. In the distance is Hope valley.

 Burbage brook flows down the valley through Upper Burbage bridge.
