|
Hardwick Old Hall was built in the 1580's and 90's
on the site of Elizabeth Shrewsbury's family home, 'Bess of
Hardwick' (1527-1608) as she is usually known re-built the family home
in a lavish style after she was confined to Hardwick because of a
quarrel with her 4th husband the Earl of Shrewsbury.
